A PRODIGY OF AUSSIE UNDERGROUND MUSIC
Johnnie Mac is a prodigy of the Aussie underground music scene who has finally emerged delivering his latest collection of songs with a captivating and rebellious raw energy. These songs tell stories that are oh so familiar - but only once we've been told. They weave their way into your psyche and paint pictures before your eyes. The years of ceaseless playing have shaped Johnnie into master of melody and a poetic lyricist...I'm overjoyed to finally have the products of his recent labours in my hot little hands...they'll be wearing thin in our cd players!

TONGUE-IN-CHEEK
Johnnie Mac entertains us with some delicious songs about compassion and frustration, love and politics, addiction and admiration, nicotine and disintegration! With a Violent Femmes flavour, his songs and stories speak, sometimes tongue- in-cheek, from around the globe. More people should hear his brand of gentle-caustic Australian original music.

JOHNNIE MAC FINALLY EMERGES FROM THE AUSTRALIAN UNDERGROUND SCENE! ......
Many people know this guy because of his infamously exquisite Aussie bush cuisine and native tree planting work, but what a lot of people are now finding out is that Johnnie Mac is a great musician, as well as a rebellious rockin tree hugger!
Johnnie recently recorded his first album called: “The World Seems Happy” together with a group of Australia’s top musicians, and the result is nothing short of pure Aussie rock at its absolute best!
At last we have an out of the ordinary Australian sound that will make anyone who has been waiting for a Australia’s next Midnight Oil or Paul Kelly - very happy.
After years of remaining defiantly obscure, yet active in underground indie music scenes all over the world, Johnnie Mac was discovered playing behind-the-scenes with some of Australia's leading musicians and has finally recorded his first album with drummer Malcolm Clark (of Sleepy Jackson fame), Bass player, Bill Jacobi (Goanna, Warumpi Band, Neil Murray and Floyd Vincent) and Vocalist and percussionist, Kyle Slabb (traditional junior Bundjalung elder and collaborator on recordings with members of Yothu Yindi).
Johnnie Mac’s Aussie spirit and rebellious nature rock out in his catchy, evocative songs that offer an unassuming style and originality that audiences are longing for.
His music reflects the life of an artist who ignores the hype and is changing the world around him for the better through his music and his actions.
Once you tune into the new style, offbeat rhythms and vocals, you’ll find yourself captivated by Johnnie’s musical flair, that traverses the lore of Australian land and an insecure, colourful past all at once.
Surprising worldwide audiences since 1990 with his hard edged musical poetry both solo and with various prominent underground Aussie bands, Johnnie Mac currently has a loyal global following who discovered him on a vast array of stages during his many global walkabout adventures.
Now gearing up for his album launch and to play live shows again for the first time since a string of supports for popular acts John Butler, Iota, Neil Murray, Deborah Conway, etc, etc, the name Johnnie Mac may well be sweeping the country as fast as it’s sweeping MySpace!
Do yourself a favour and get to an intimate Johnnie Mac gig before his audiences get too big!

I don't need to say what the song sounds like, Johnnie's description above does the job. There is a solid old school punk vibe here with the thumping...
