Unearthed Artists We Like: Kahya

Since forming in 2001 from the settling dust of two other bands, Manzuma has independently released two full length albums and one EP.

The Cube (2001) is a double album detailing the 30-year aftermath of the death of a pregnant woman in 1961. And it's mostly true.

Atmospherics (2002) is the EP that's long enough to be an album, yet it's not.

Manzuma's third offering was Inside The Serpent Skin (2005). It is just over an hour of music, served up in nine big greedy chunks, which is somehow not excess; somehow the perfect amount, and nothing less would satisfy, anything more would bloat. There is nothing hit and run about these songs. They explore themselves as carefully and intimately and as easily as all pop should. They treat themselves like they deserve it. Which they do.

Having recently finished recording their fourth bit, Hollows, Manzuma's music is taking a twisted turn down a darker alley.
