Piñata began its life in Adelaide, Australia in 2001. Original member, Phillip (Bass, Backing Vocals), joined shortly by Tashii (Vocals, Guitar), grew together through the usual trend of line-up changes and then found that they were capable of flourishing when joined by Linden (drums) in August 2004.

Bring vital ingredients to a modern day rock-pop band: energy; sweet yet mischievous; dark rhythm; bass drive- all combined are the essence that conveys licorice pop/rock piñata.

In 2001 and 2002 piñata discovered that they were heading in the right direction when competing in RifFind Music Live and Triple J’s Unearthed contests. Received well by judges and fellow competitors, piñata reached the finals in RifFind competition and the second round of listening in JJJ's unearthed.

piñata’s first release in 2003- “Dancing Zeb” EP-
began to earn some favourable feedback for the band. ‘Rip it up’ street magazine described “There’s always a reason to keep your eyes out for an up-and-coming band, especially one that leads you to believe has a touch of something special”.

“Dancing Zeb” continued to receive a response through-out 2004 with Rage (ABC) broadcasts of
‘Debil-Debil’ filmclip and with continued support
from 3D Radio’s play list. iSurf DVDzine also picked up tracks ‘Debil-Debil’ and ‘Sediment’ to be featured on their surf DVD, sold in many countries around the world.

piñata's second EP/Demo "So Far So Good", recorded in March 2004 is continuing to impress
listeners with tight, short pop-rock-punk-indie
songs with regular airplay on 3D Radio and supported music Websites.

“Dancing Zeb” and "So Far So Good" are currently
available through Big Star-Adelaide, via internet
and by personal sale.

Phill and Tash were joined marriage in December
'05 and Linden became a Daddy in April '06. All
recent happenings leave us happily rocking!

Watch this space for our next CD in early 2007.
