After an almost 4yr break, Simon Imrei returns with new songs, a new album, a new band and a fresh outlook.

Titled "Branching Inward", the forthcoming album is a result of Simon and local producer/engineer "Mark Stanley" chipping away, over an almost 2 year window of time, at a finished product that would best depict Simon's musical and personal journey up to this point.

Having started playing music quite late, picking up guitar after high school, Simon entered the world of pub gigs and covers music, playing regularly at least 2-3 nights a week early on. These, often eye opening, experiences lead to the recording of 2 acoustic ep's, self funded and managed. Subsequent tours eventuated to Adelaide, Sydney and Tasmania, with Simon also being a grand finalist in the PBS Festival of Song (2005), winning the 'Melbourne Fresh' and 'Summer Sessions' competitions (out of Revolver Upstairs) and enjoying spots on the 'Foot In The Door' stage (at Queenscliff Music Festival) and on local compilations of the time.

However in early 2007 Simon stopped gigging and writing, taking what was to be a few months away from original music to focus on life outside of music, in the form of recently acquired guitar teaching and design ambitions. Enjoying life 'out of the driver's set', Simon joined Melbourne bands/artists 'This Public Life', 'The Wildes', 'The Basics', 'Ian Bland' and more, both on tours around Australia and in the studio, and also tried his hand at co-producing an full-length album.

After only being recorded acoustically, and having made sacrifices in the studio at every step, Simon finally boasts a recording that, in his own words, "best sums up who i am, what i love and what i want to say."

A mixture of different styles and inspirations, Simon's music speaks honestly and without crowded complexity and gives you catchy pop music you can remember throughout your day. His melting pot of influences includes anything from the blues of Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy, to the storytelling of Paul Simon and Neil Young, to the soul of Bill Withers the rhythms and melodies of The Police and Phil Collins.

So the time is here, and it promises to be an exciting next 12 months. "The songs on the record really have never been played live, in their entirety! Everything has just been layered up, so the live show will take things to the next level again..."

"Branching Inward" will be released independently, soon! More news to come...
