Warchief feature 2 sister vocalists, who bring an unbeaten intimacy with beautiful, emotional harmonies, complimented by a stream of dreamy guitar loops and backed by a solid, progressive and energetic rhythm section. With influences ranging from as many genres as you can think of, Warchief has successfully created a unique sound that has been difficult to pin point. People have referenced some of their sounds to bands such as Portishead, First Aid Kit, Warpaint, Fleet Foxes, Fleetwood Mac and The Cranberries.
They have just released their debut single ‘Blind Eyes’.
The band recorded and produced it themselves led by their bass player, Josh Haworth-Webb, who’s an audio engineer. Then it was mastered by Andrew Edgson from Studios 301 (Matt Corby, The Rubens, Angus Stone, Julia Stone, Nantes, Art vs. Science). Having a fairly prominent electronic inspiration the band experimented heavily with adding some unique and creative textures, despite their obvious organic sound.
‘Blind Eyes’ a story of two people who live in a reflection of today’s society where the higher powers and mega corporations control the minds of the population, in which civilians carry on their day to day existence blindly thinking they have freedom. The two protagonists want to make a change by spreading their beliefs to break free of this control. When one of them is captured and interrogated he gives in, while the other goes on to continue the fight for justice, gaining followers and succeeding in restoring their sight.
Warchief have supported Van She at Mona Vale Hotel, as well as many other talented local bands such as The Khanz, The Ruminaters and The Guppies and are about to share the stage with Samuel Cole and The Mornings, who recently played at Falls Festival. In September last year Warchief’s ‘Desert Deer’ took home the award for ‘Outstanding Song Writing’ at Sydney’s ‘Eat Noise, The Locies’ run by Ron Baumann.
2013 is already looking positive, landing their first festivals and headline shows for this extremely determined, self-sufficient and focused band. They plan to release their debut EP late this year.

A brooding tune with a neat build up of tension. Think it could do with some fleshing out but it shows plenty of potential for Warchief.
