Whyte Zebra’s once distinguished alternative folk sound now incorporates a new psychedelic rock characteristic; a fresh and inventive addition to this Central Queensland quartet. The new instrumental line up of electric double bass and unyielding drums accompanied by sublime guitar and a haunting violin creates an atmosphere of blissful nostalgia, and combine to produce a profound depth of light and shade within their music.

“A brand of alternative rock that’s less painfully hip and more established” - RAVE MAGAZINE 2010

Now into their third year in the music scene, Whyte Zebra have established a solid local fan base and achieved a number of goals, including winning two arts grants, performing on channel 7’s popular TV program ‘Queensland Weekender’, hosting various song writing workshops and having supported a large number of nationally renowned artists at various festivals and gigs around Queensland. Currently working on a new album, Whyte Zebra are aspiring to expand on their demographic with the upcoming release of their next album, and subsequent tour dates later in the year.

With a jazz degree in bass guitar, Steve Quinn works closely with vocalist and guitarist Andy Stanhope and provides solid theoretical knowledge to aid in Whyte Zebra’s unique song writing. Violinist, Bec Romeo’s uncanny ability to improvise, harmonise and introduce enchanting melodies to song structures assists in giving their songs the depth and colour they are known for. Drummer Louis Parish provides the backbone of the band with years of experience from playing in a large number of bands, both national and international.

Each member brings their own musical style and influences to the band, from roots to country through to heavy rock. It is these very differences that have seen the development of a unique band, with a respect and passion for all kinds of music.

“Whyte Zebra make an impact even if they hardly raise their voices” - LUNA KAFE 2010..
