Dear Drum: "How Do I Get My Song In Your Spotify Playlist?"
In the mould of our contemporaries - Dolly Doctor, Agony Aunt, Where Wallace and Ask Abbie – Dear Drum is a mailbag from triple j Unearthed’s Green Drum to give you the inside track on the Australian music industry, triple j, and a whole heap of other stuff. If you’ve got a Q, hit us up for an A. Just like these fine folk did:
1) What is the best way for me to get my music on the new triple j Unearthed Podcast or Spotify playlist? Ashley F
Ashley, thanks and hi and thanks. We listen to every. single. song that gets uploaded to triple j Unearthed. Every one. And we listen to them the whole way through. We do it so that we can find the very best to share with our audience but also to make sure that your uploads have worked fine and that you haven't accidentally uploaded the beep test. There’s nothing special you need to do to get your song in our podcast or Spotify playlist except for like… having your music on Spotify or whatever you know? If we hear it and it’s great, we’ll add it in there! We'll also consider your song for Unearthed digital radio rotation, festival competitions, online spotlights and sharing through all social medias. So in short, just upload that thing!
2) Dear Sir/Madam
I would like an opportunity and introduce our company that is involved. In the sports wear business for the last 15 year. We have tremendous experience in the outer wear, Leisure wear, Fitness wear, and also Footballs trade with the promoters having an experience from 10 to 15 years. We are currently strong in the international market and expanding overseas markets. We would like to provide our export services in sportswear & Footballs at suitable price depending upon your requirements.
Bonjour and can I start by saying WOW. That’s some nice looking leisure wear. I am feeling more relaxed and I was already lying on a very expensive futon. Unfortunately we are a website and a digital radio station and also I am a small green drum and as such the only garments I need are drum cases and the occasional new skin.
3) How long will my artist profile remain 'pending approval'? – Ryan K
Ryan, that’s a terrific question and now I’m wondering if you have a PhD in aksking questions. Do you? See, my questions are nowhere near as good as yours. Anywhich, there’s a good reason that your artist profile says ‘pending approval’ – it’s because there’s no music on your profile yet. User profiles don't go active until there is a song live on them. So record a song if you haven’t already (always a good starting point), upload it to your profile and we’ll approve it once we’ve listened to it (in full!!).
