The Five Best Songs of the Week!

The Five Best Songs of the Week!

With literally ~hundreds of thousands~ of independent Australian songs on triple j Unearthed, sometimes it can be hard to know where to start. That's why we have the Friday Five! These are the five songs uploaded this week that we think you need to hear right now. Every week, Dave & Max break 'em down for you on The Unearthed Podcast - who they are, what's cool about them and why they matter. This week: Pop Punk is back! Plus, What does it sound like when two hearts collide? These are the 5 best songs of the week concluding June 6.

Spit Chewy - Afterparty

Wollongong yung-guns Spit Chewy are turning heads with this indie-pop gem. It’s bright, bouncy guitar pop from a band we met in Unearthed High in 2018. Big things ahead, we reckon. (side note, Unearthed High is open again!)

Oh Boy - Angels 888 {feat. Cub Sport}

Experimental pop producer Oh Boy partners with none other than Cub Sport on this left of gorgeous new one. He’s an avid collaborator, previously working with artists like Mallrat and Cult Shφtta.

Miiesha - Black Privilege

From Central QLD community Woorabinda comes Miiesha, a Pitjantjara / Torrest Strait Islander woman whose first upload is a majestic SZA-esque R&B masterstroke. Expect to hear HEAPS more from Miiesha in the months to come- we're excited.

Garage Sale - Home

Lennox Head trio Garage Sale uploaded this track yesterday and it’s going after that hometown ethos in the same way artists like Skegss do. Fans of Skegss or Tired Lion are gonna love these sonics too.

GALLVS - The Flood

GALLVS continues his run of uploading one new song per year with this new one ‘The Flood’ which has been referred to as a sad emo rap death march. Mighty production and some hammer-sad lyrics here.
