NU KIDS ON THE BLOCK - The Australian heavies bringing back nu-metal sounds

Nu metal. The much maligned genre of heavy music that takes hip-hop, metal, alternative, rap, funk, punk rock and more, chucking them in a blender before spitting it out, is having a resurgence.
After a long while of it being a bit of a dirty word, we’ve come full circle and we’re hearing this influence in some of the coolest new acts on triple j Unearthed.
To coincide with Korn headlining the first ever Australian version of Download Festival, Gemma Pike - triple j’s Assistant Music Director and host of The J Files on Double J - is taking you through five of the best heavy bands on triple j Unearthed channelling that nu metal sound.
