NIGHT TWO RECAP

SAMPA THE GREAT

WHAT WE SAW: Party Positive vibes from our Thursday Night headliner. She's one of the most gifted rappers in Australia, and her stage show is immense.

TINY LITTLE HOUSES

WHAT WE SAW: deep and crushing existential angst. It's all gonna be ok tho.

MIDDLE KIDS

WHAT WE SAW: hashtag hits from one of the country's most promising new bands. We've only heard two recorded songs from Middle Kids so far, but trust us - you're going to want to hear a lot more.

GOOD BOY

WHAT WE SAW: livin below the poverty line, livin below the poverty line.  livin below the poverty line, livin below the poverty line. livin below the poverty line, livin below the poverty line.  livin below the poverty line, livin below the poverty line.  livin below the poverty line, livin below the poverty line.

WHAT WE SAW: lush, electronic instrumentals from our second BIGSOUND comp winner. Also, special guests! WoodesLastlings and OK Badlands all got up on stage for guest spots.

ALEX LAHEY

WHAT WE SAW: straight-up singalongs from one of the country's best emerging songwriters. One of Alex's best traits is how relatable she is as a writer, and that came through in spades in front of a packed house last night.

TASH SULTANA

WHAT WE SAW: DIY Heaven, baby. Tash is known for her affinity for loop pedals, drum machines, and creating sounds from scratch, and she delivered on that last night. Also, she shreds at guitar. A memorable performance.

LANKS

WHAT WE SAW: A pretty captivating by an excellent, road-tested live artist. Lanks' voice is unimpeachable, his guitar-work is tasty, and there was also a ripping flute solo.

MOSQUITO COAST

WHAT WE SAW: one of the most-anticipated sets of the conference. Our 2015 Unearthed High champs came out swinging with new song 'Let's Be Friends' earlier this year, and their momentum built steadily over a full set.

EMILY WURRAMARA

WHAT WE SAW: a rich vocal performance from our Unearthed BIGSOUND Comp winner. Acoustic arrangements, passionate lyrics, and a finite recognition of her Groote Eyelandt heritage imbued throughout her set.
