A great little indie gem reminiscent of early Two Door Cinema Club/Last Dinosaurs. These guys stand out with how well they work together both as a live band and in recording. I saw these guys live back in 2011 and they spent the whole set just having fun and messing about whilst performing brilliantly and energetically. It is a shame that they broke up in 2012 but hopefully they will be back and record a few of those tracks that they would perform live but never got around to releasing because they were on par with this track.

Very nice little indie gem. It's hard to see why these guys never grew to a bigger fan base back when they were around with such a fun and energetic sound that transpires from their live shows to their recordings

You really need to listen to all the tracks in a row, and then it doesn't half leaving you hanging out for more! Some sort of dark, mystical mixture of Joy Division, Vampire Weekend and Blink-182, these guys are the real deal. One of the freshest sounds I've heard in years, not to mention the brilliant lyrics. There's something about this band that gives me goosebumps, gives me faith in the music industry. I wish you boys the very best of luck, you're doing magical things with your music.

From the first time I heard this song it was my favourite off their EP. Initially I loved it for it's catchy pop riff, with bass and drums that made me want to skip in rythmic delight, before moving into a chorus of musical mayhem with frantically fluorescent synth which compliments and contrasts the fast paced rock around it. It wasn't until I listened to the song at home while in a musically appreciative mood, that I understood the true beauty of this song. It is Benjamin Lim's lyrics about the true motives and minds of teenagers beneath their ignorant facade of excess and secret loneliness, summed up with the lyrics" their rigs and robes are made of gold, but their heads and hearts are filled with coal". Adding to the impact of the lyrics is the ironic up beat nature of the song itself, which is intended not only to illustrate a light and dark contrast within the song, but also the contrast between how teenagers appear and how they really are deep inside themselves.

Brazen Kids of York is one such blow to the self-esteems of us untalented twenty-somethings. Lim’s vocal style is of the love/hate variety: distinctive and impossibly cool, although probably borderline weird for those new to the genre. Personified, it might be an insouciant hipster with bad posture and an idiosyncratic swagger: either dreadfully annoying or disarmingly quirky. It’s hardly forgettable. Once they get their hands on a professional production team, there's no doubt they'll go far.

Brazen Kids of York, a very talented group of individuals. ‘In cold, In mould’ lyrics explain it all. This song captures raw adolescent beauty as lyrics are exposed through smooth changes in tempo. Slight breaks throughout the song allow an individual to get lost in the moment of the song and reflect on personal experiences. Increased rhythm in the second half of the track develops a sense of freedom, as one is able to appreciate the beauty of growth and life.

For the first twnty seconds of a song, a high tempo intermingling of guitar, drums and bass gives you the impression that your going to be treated to an above average simple but clever indie rock song. With "In Could, In Mould" however, there is an engaging eeriness to the begninning which starts with a foreshadowing piece of dark, stirring synth and ends with the first of Benjamin Lim's vocals. From this point on, the ghostly sound of Ben's voice is darkly contrasted with the words of a teenager who doesn't know he's lost in life. This theme runs through all verses of the song lyrically, surrounded by a subtly scary supporting cast of foreboding bass, agitated guitar and synth. it is this synth which acts as the melancholic precursor to a chorus of defiant youth, Lim's bold simplicity backed up by the building intensity of Andrew begley's drumming, before sliding back into a depressing flow of strange sadness with the outcry of the teenager in secret emotional anguish "My heart grows in silence, in could, in mould".

An amazing live band, all on the same page and so much energy also. Their EP is awesome and some great guys as well. The next big thing, watch out for BKOY!

With its simple drum opening, chiming in synch with a melodic guitar, the song seems aloof, childish on first impression. But slicing through this surface radiance of innocence and joy, is a subliminal undercurrent of melancholy. The notes of the song, pulling, tugging at your limbs, while the lyrics dig sharp and sting, unveiling the foolish psychological vices of an adolescent world view, and the seductiveness by which self centredness brings solitude through naivety. The undercurrent sucks you down into its stream, and as its energy proliferates a wide array of abstract sensations into a lively pulse, and then one feels the chorus before it erupts, brimming with energy. The sound is excitining and exotic, enough to trigger a stag party in a Sri Lankan mosque and have people's feet tapping compulsively for weeks receding.

When I recognised the sound that came from a woodblock or cowbell in the next track Crybaby, my love for the band was instantly confirmed. The sound of the instrument brought back memories of music classes I took in primary school as I visualised myself sitting on the carpet playing the cowbell. I applaud the band for somehow igniting that reminiscence.
