essie's new ep is full of smart and intimate pop and this is another reason to go listen to the whole damn thing again and again.

Think this is Essie Holt at her best. The careful and quiet production gives ample spotlight to Essie's tender delivery and the storytelling as Essie lays herself bare.

It feels intimate, softly spoken and lullaby like and yeah it truly is gorgeous. I love the way it just sits with you, like it's meant to bring comfort.

it's like watching tiny ripples across a pond. it's a delicate, fragile touch but that makes it even more beautiful. i'm transfixed.

It's 3am, I'm on the DF with my bestie who's recovering from a broken heart. But it's cool, cos we've got this night and the perfect soundtrack for it.

Don't judge me but sometimes when I listen to electo songs I like to try to imagine what the project file would look like. This one is filled with layers in unexpected areas... what a great time for my imagination.

That build and tension in the chorus is giving me Robyn 'Body Talk Pt. 1'-era vibes. Propelling, atmospheric pop.

Essie in the verses is refreshing. Essie in the chorus is enlivening! I reckon this is seriously impressive.

After just a couple of plays, I can hear how this will keep growing. It's got some great arrangement ideas, and the piano alongside that rhythm is a really clever touch. The song doesn't outstay its welcome either.

this is supreme pop. it's balanced and consuming and it got me hook, line and sinker on first listen.

Understated, left of center pop music from an artist on the rise. This one feels moody and optimistic both. Big mood.

In love with this new blossoming Essie!!! This feels as good as ever. It's got that star power, confidence in sound, soaring moments, some neat tricks and broods in the back too. Obsessed.

Like a rice paper roll, this one has all the right fillings for a loveable indie pop track, wrapped in this light production, but that's all it needs. I love this.

You've got gorgeous vocals that kind of sound similar to or sit somewhere between those of Mallrat and Sarah Blasko, and this chorus absolutely blew me away. I'm done.

essie! this is my new fave track of yours. it's light but hiding darkness and you croon into that microphone in a way that would make emma louise proud.
