Growing up in Newcastle, Louis starting playing in local bands at school such as Small Town Giants, giving him exposure to venues such as customs house on a Wednesday night, Energy Australia Stadium and house parties in Newcastle and the Central Coast. Eventually Louis began singing in a band called Republic Cucumber Magazine and was able to open for acts such as Gang of Youths, Husky and Ali Barter. After the lead singer of RCM left to move to Melbourne, Louis went out on his own, playing in small cafes and bars. This year Louis created ABELL and aimed to record songs with all the musicians he's played with over the last 5 years. This endeavour has produced songs such as Bleed and Smokestack in which fellow musicians Josh Rea, Aidan Foster-Graves and Louis Kakavas have all contributed to. While Bleed was created on Garageband and mixed (poorly) by Louis, Smokestack was recorded and produced by Spinlight studios, which also helped to produce RCM's Asylum. Each individual song is ...
