Bio

Melbourne 4-piece, Adult.Films, have recently released their much-anticipated debut EP, Faux.Real. It has been a long time coming, the alternative R&B group already racking up 4 years of making music together. Their sound forms over a mutual love of youth culture, contemporary video art, with a healthy dose of sounds-like vibes from The xx, The Weeknd and The Internet.

Formed by 4 full-time musicians, the band performed regularly from 2014-2017 with their continued success based of the strength of their live performance alone. With out any recordings released, the band managed to book monthly residencies at Melbourne venues, playing alongside local legends Tash Sultana & Josh Cashman, as well as performing interstate supporting Dylan Joel’s Still Sippin’ tour.

One year later, the band have returned with 6 of their favourite tunes out online.
Shy, Fake.Flowers, School.Night, Do.I.Get.You.High, Need.The.Night & Ordinary.Ppl.

Faux.Real aims to expose thoughts that are commonly kept to ourselves.
Love that make us feel too vulnerable. Lust that make us feel too vulgar. Heartache that make us feel too fragile. Exploring themes of anti-social secrets.
Having performed and developed the tracks over the past few years, the band have intricately arranged the instrumentals to move and adapt with the two vocalists voicing different sides of the same story. Though both perspectives are examined in the verses, a connecting theme is drawn upon for a powerful chorus. A multi-layered percussion section provides a strong rhythmic backing for vulnerable vocal performances that express the insecurities and uncertainties of navigating relationships. Unconventional chord progressions steer away from the pop norm, yet the melodies draw in the listener with alluring hooks and quick word play.

Voices that are made to be married, as if they've been courting for years and we're hearing the fruits of a long term relationship. Ew, now they're making out. Get a room.

sensual, secretive and that dusty, crackling aged vinyl sound is perfect for the overall feel.
