Artist:Aika

Aika started out as the ambient music project of Liam Barling. Drawing heavily on the influence of artists such as Brian Eno, Harold Budd and William Basinski, the project gradually evolved into a collaboration with engineer/producer, Joe Gardner. Over the course of the last two years, Barling and Gardner have released a series of lush, ambient, and at times, belligerent chamber pop tracks. The last 6 months has seen Aika move into new territory, with the minimal tracks being translated into a full live experience. Aika, as a live band, makes full use of its 7-piece ensemble, reimagining past recordings as dynamic performances. Evoking the monumental sounds of The E-Street Band, Dire Straits and The National, Aika still remains tied to its ambient roots, offering a refreshing and authentic sound.
