Bio

“The single most electrifying, engrossing performance I have ever seen an unsigned band put on. The name of the band is Alba Varden.” Dwarf.com.au “Alba Varden were the absolute highlight of the night. They sounded like indie-electro-pop-rock all mashed together deliciously, and their rather dapper singer Daniel was dressed just like Frank Zappa.” FasterLouder.com “Alba Varden are in a league of their own” Inpress Magazine A newly shaped union of five individuals with strong and particular ideals is usually a recipe for the beginning of the end, but in this case, a group of best friends are able to fuse each influence in harmony and as a result, craft a collection of effortlessly timeless songs, ready for release. ‘This Instance’ is the new double ‘A’ side single from Melbourne five piece ‘Alba Varden’. Following on from their ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’ EP released in 2010, ‘This Instance’ is set for release on February 25th and consists of two singles; "This Instance Between Me & You (Part I)” and "Try To Get Away (Part II)". The first part showcasing the darker, yet more mature edge to Alba Varden’s songwriting. With Lyrics that denote an 'Instance' that could relate to anyone in the world, the brooding music beneath lays a perfect bed for the story which follows. The latter is a bold attack of dirty beats, grungy guitars and intense vocals echoing out of the speakers. The track explores what the band aim to convey in a live 'Instance'. A live band in every sense of the word, this track demonstrates that to the utmost. Ideally intended to be consumed in one sitting while independently, each offering contains a unique sound all of it’s own. Alba Varden’s ‘This Instance’ is a confident start to what’s sure to be a big year for them. Embarking on their third national tour in just 6 months, Alba Varden will be taking up residency around Australia from the last week of February and through the entire month of March. Winding up in their hometown before heading to the U.S.A. on a month long writing trip which will see them take in both coasts, Vegas of course, and an iconic music festival just outside LA called ‘Coachella’. At times reminiscent of ‘The Doors’ or even ‘The Bad Seeds’, Alba Varden’s psychedelic beats and euphoric moments make for a stunning high energy, live show. Be sure not to miss them as they head to a stage near you… TOUR DATES: Feb 25th @ Wold Bar, Sydney, NSW March 3rd @ Lambda Lambda Lambda, Alhambra Lounge, Fortitude Valley, QLD (with Red Ink & Fushia) March 4th @ Balcony 153, Brisbane, QLD (with Grand Atlantic) March 5th @ X&Y Bar, Fortitude Valley, QLD (with The Art & Blonde on Blonde) March 12th @ The Espy Rock The Bay, VIC March 18th @ The Promethean, Adelaide, SA March 26th @ Pony, Melbourne, VIC (with In Tongues, Fushia & Ghost Mutt). A big, dark production and i think it could even go further with the synthetic sounds! Or would really lend itself to remixing. There's a touch of the darker sides of Art vs. Science about this.

A solid basis for a great song; I've played the M-Phazes remix of this on air and it just blasts out of the radio. Maybe some food for thought - that vocal would do well with a bigger, bassier music bed. You've got something strong here - build on it. Beef it up!

reminded me of the Killers somewhat. A very nice remix, awesome vocals and a kick-ass beat. This song had had my toes a-tapping.
