About
Albert Street formed recently as all members were idly watching gig after gig in Melbourne’s northern suburbs while their respective band mates were getting to know the other side of the globe or finishing some PhD of some sort. After their band took a short break, Albert & Chris (The Oh Balters), continued playing together and came across punk-rockers Luke & Layla (Star Wars ep. IV, V & VI). Shortly after, they met for the first time in a place that wasn’t the notorious Tote Hotel. They squeezed a drumkit into Albert’s room and wrote until their neighbour threatened to burn the instruments. By that time, they’d finished an EP and waddled down to a recording studio and laid down three of their best. Their music is influenced by artists such as Neil Young, Julia Jacklin, The Monkees, and have been described as energetic, warm, new, and undeniably honest.
