With a varied style, and voice "as sweet as honey," Texan country & folk songstress has lived and played in much of the world; including France, Italy, India, and Australia. Although Alicia is originally from just outside of Austin, TX; the forthcoming EPs were independently recorded in two of these far away places - India and Australia.
In 2012, Alicia moved to Australia and quickly created a buzz in Melbourne's local music scene, playing frequently at venues like the Standard, Old Bar, Retreat, and Wesley Anne. Alicia recorded her debut EP “Birds of a Feather” with engineer Joe Ferguson at Decibels Studio on April 25th, 2013 with some of Melbourne’s finest - Pete Fidler on dobro and banjo and Josh Bridges (of Mustered Courage) on bass. After the release at Melbourne’s Worker’s Club, Alicia toured nationally, and received airplay on over 100 radio stations throughout the country. For her audience in the United States, Alicia is now officially releasing a slightly altered version of this EP entitled “My Hometown.”
Since moving back to the Austin area, Alicia has been playing solo, duo, and full band shows at venues around Austin like the Rattle Inn, Blackheart, Poodies, Bangers, and Green Mesquite BBQ. Alicia also plays frequently in Dallas and Fort Worth at venues like the White Elephant Saloon, the Shipping & Receiving Bar, and Woodshed Smokehouse; and venues in the Hill country and New Braunfels like Inwood Estates, Texas Hills Winery, the Pour Haus and Adobe Verde.
In 2014, Alicia successfully funded a Kickstarter for a new recording in India - “Namaste”. She wrote all the songs in India two years earlier while studying yoga and living in Rishikesh - the yoga capital of the world. She recorded the album in nearby Dehradun at Mandeep Singh’s Studio Octave. The recording features local Rishikesh musicians Bhuwan Chandra on sitar, Shivananda Sharma on tabla, and Shivratri Giri on bansuri.
Both EPs will be on sale online from June 20th at www.aliciaadkins.com and via iTunes and other online media outlets.
