Bio

Allysha Joy

Singer, pianist, producer, poet and all round creative being, Allysha Joy, is a key member of the Melbourne Nu Soul and Jazz scene. Well known for performing as part of the 30/70 collective, their growing success over the years has led her to further challenge her expression in a project of her own.

Whether performing solo on Fender Rhodes or accompanied by her band, Allysha's steady groove, husky vocal tone and unique style of writing emanates truth and talent, and illuminates her powerful gift of song. Her sound is dynamic and raw, real and complex, as she was raised on jazz, soul, hip hop and RnB, later to be drenched in Melbourne’s soul overtone.

In September 2018 she released her debut LP ‘Acadie : Raw’ on Manchester based label, Gondwana Records, to great acclaim from the likes of Gilles Peterson, John Kennedy and Tall Black Guy. She has performed alongside artists such as Kamaal Williams, Children of Zeus, Alpha Mist, Sampa the Great and The Cat Empire, while touring throughout Australia and Europe.

On stage, Allysha is a beam of light, as you witness her joy in playing and creating. “I look to people that present their genuine self on stage, reaching for something beyond the present moment, beyond themselves, being a vessel for something greater.” Allysha strives to take the audience on a journey, as she herself dives deeply into the music and the moment.

There is much to be expected in the future of this young talent, as she continues to explore her creativity through the 30/70 Collective and challenging self, as a singer, pianist, producer and poet.
