'90s and '00s boom bap and classic Aussie hip hop

Amity is an emerging Brisbane hip hop artist who is turning heads and raising eyebrows of everyone along the way. After releasing three mixtapes and performing at various local festivals, including ScorcherFest, UBERfest and Off the Record, Amity has also supported established locals such as MC Wheels and Zekiel. The ambitious young rapper was also chosen to join a select group of musicians for a Heaps Decent songwriting workshop and meet-and-greet with Alison Wonderland at the 2016 Groovin the Moo festival in Townsville.

The debut album Assorted Nonsense was released May 8th 2020 with the support of The A and R Department with moderate success. The album features production by some of the nation’s most exciting producers, including Dom Cork (Dexter Seamus, Bliss N Eso), Hamley (Drapht), Rob Shaker (Bitter Belief, Maundz) and Brisbane MC Enggy (Rinsed Out Records). The pensive poet demonstrates technical, introspective rhymes and tongue-in-cheek wordplay over a contemporary update of boom bap and lo-fi beats.

Lead single The One received airplay on local independent radio station 4ZZZ’s Pass the Aux on May 28th 2020 and NSW community radio station Alive 90.5 FM’s Point of View with Aparna Vats, accompanied by a live phone interview, on July 1st 2020. Amity also received an editorial feature from Happy Mag on June 10th 2020, who said that his music allows him to “…deliver insightful commentary about the world around him, as well as the universe that lies within himself.”

Honest and humble, Amity aims to inspire and challenge his audience with serious yet playful lyrics and eloquent storytelling. Influenced by the likes of Illy, Hilltop Hoods, Bliss N Eso, Horrorshow, Drapht, Seth Sentry, Eminem, Mike Shinoda and NF, Amity is stepping out to cast a shadow of his own. Amity is currently working on a side project with a friend from university that will be produced and recorded himself until the next album cycle begins.
