Bio

Andrew McDonald has made an enviable impact on the music scene in recent years as a singer/ songwriter, a moonlighting acoustic performer and the once enigmatic front man of Melbourne outfit Tiltmeter. With previous CD releases distributed through major and indy labels each of which receiving considerable airplay commercial and community radio, Andrew has an admirable reputation amongst peers, punters and friends alike. At the age of nineteen Andrew McDonald secured a deal with Sony/ATV Publishing which paved the way for recording and extensive national touring which would land him supports with Incubus, Lifehouse, The Living End, Grinspoon, Something For Kate, Idlewild, The John Butler Trio, Eskimo Joe and Gyroscope to name a few. Whilst writing and touring with his band, Andrew simultaneously performed several acoustic shows and before long a solo career would become his primary focus and thus has allowed him the freedom and inspiration to flourish with each infectious new song. Andrew’s distinct display of commanding lyrics and passionate vocal execution has left crowds (both nationally and in his home town of Melbourne) captivated. After a successful string of shows and residencies in Melbourne, Andrew was invited to tour nationally by Metric Clothing in support of their street wear label. In October 2008, Andrew was invited to Singapore to be main support for American band Lifehouse and also had the good fortune to perform at the launch of a major Nokia product. Whilst in Singapore Andrew also played two more side shows and recorded a live set for Singapore radio station Power 98 FM. This overseas adventure was met with rave reviews and generated a wealth of excitement and exposure for Andrew’s music . Andrew recently completed recording his debut album with Brett Punchon (Magic Dirt, The Living End, Violent Soho). Its release will clearly showcase Andrews dedication to unique melodies, engaging lyrics, thoughtful structures and attention to each detail of the craft. Sonically and atmospherically heightened with the aid of operatic instrumentation, Andrews debut is set to be a highly rewarding, ear-opening experience.
