Bio

Andy Penkow is a Country/Americana singer-songwriter

Andy was born in Sydney Australia and grew up on the South Coast of NSW

Andy has been writing and performing since he was 12 and was a member of the SBS Choir and a regular member of the southern schools regional performing ensemble

In 2001 he appeared on the Australian Television show POP STARS

Andy's Love of country Americana music started from listening to his parent's record collection which included Neil Young, Alan Jackson, and Kasey Chambers

Influenced by Sam Out-law, Ryan Adams, Honey Honey, Rodriguez, The Eagles, Bob Dylan, and loves American southern country music

Studying music at JMC Academy in Sydney, Andy completed an advanced diploma of popular music and performance. In this time he was the lead singer for the band Inter-fear and the Thompson Gunners covers band 60’s and 70’s rock

More recently Andy was the lead singer of Ionia and Mundy Bluze

Andy's Debut album "Sad Love Songs" released on the 16th of December 2018, was produced by Rodney Motbey at Tracking Dog Studios

"Sad Love Songs" had over 5 thousand streams on Spotify in its first 4 weeks of release

The first single "Drowning in the Whiskey" debuted at number 17 on the Oz Country Downunder charts and has spent 7 weeks in the charts

"Drowning in the whiskey" also debuted at number 6 on Australian Country Radios top ten and is still on rotation getting airplay on over 20 country radio stations around the world

Andy released a second single to coincide with the 2019 Tamworth Country Music Festival
"Sad Love Songs" debuted at number 6 on the Oz Country Downunder charts

Melodically and lyrically this tune is pretty straight forward, Penkow clearly has a great voice that is probably capable vocal things I would kill for, and I think this tune leans heavily on his talents as a vocalist.
If you're a fan of wholesome country music this will totally be your jam because it is country and wholesome AF!
