Bio

Archdukes formed beneath the shadow of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. They approach songwriting with a love of intelligent pop music matched only by a consuming affair with dream-inspired lyricism and arrangement. The culmination of which, produces a sometimes dark, sometimes intense, often blissful musical landscape. In the past 6 months, Archdukes have released 2 singles which have received airplay on Triple J, with Zan Rowe and Dom Alessio, rotation on local stations RRR (Melbourne) and FBI (Sydney), as well as accruing over 30,000 Youtube views on their video for song 'Soft Focus'. They have also just been included on playlists for US internet stations: indiedarkroom.com (Brooklyn), DKFM (California) and Strangeways Radio. They have shared stages with Civil Civic (UK), Expatriate, Hungry Kids of Hungry, Sugar Army, Strange Talk, Big Scary, Ballpark Music and Oh Ye Denver Birds and in August 2013, will premiere their third single 'Time Stands Still'. When asked: "What was for you the most promising new band this year?" "I'm pretty bad with respect to recent music, but there is a group called Archdukes who really stood out."- Justin Vallesteros (Craft Spells) interview by Julia Rouet-Leduc for 'Profondeur De Champs'. "Really impressive....they're love of Slowdive, The Go-Betweens, Ride, JMC. really shines through"- soundsbetterwithreverb.com "It opens with a thick, confident bass line similar to that in 'Sea Within A Sea' by The Horrors. It is then smothered in a wave of guitar distortion before being beaten down underwater by the continuously surging double drum kick and double snare beat. Don't let the title miss lead you, there's nothing soft about their focus here. It's this ruthless atmosphere throughout, coincidentally in the form of a trademark (recently returned) My Bloody Valentine song, that's so enchanting. The Kevin Shields' approach of loosening up from clean production is where Archdukes prevail."- Marcus Rimondini. The Ripe: New Music Blog.

Great song. Layered, atmospheric, tight, big drive to it all and an excellent chorus. Ya nailed it.

This new tune is great; really upping the squall to a point that I didn't know you had it in you. Enough to make Jim Reid jealous.
