Bio
ARCHIE blends surf pop and synthesisers in a blatant attempt to get gren's approval.
Shortly after forming in late 2018 while studying at the ANU School of Music, the four unusually happy scallywags found a kindred spirit in Archie, Xandy’s dog, who reflects all of the charisma, energy, and happiness ARCHIE the band can only dream of conveying with our music.
Holy Holy, Ball Park Music, Parcels, The Jungle Giants, and Lime Cordiale are all bands that we love, just not as much as we love the 2007 Major Ocean Picture “Surf’s Up”.
Since their launch at the start of July 2019, they’ve had a meteoric rise in the local scene. Beginning with shows alongside well-established hometown heroes, they soon doubled-down on their infectious live shows by supporting the likes of Surf Trash, Neko Pink and BENEE. This has culminated in a string of sold-out headline shows around Canberra, with fans turning up in their hundreds.
Soon after, the release of "Blink" saw the band perform alongside long-time-idols Lime Cordiale, as well as feature in the pilot episode of Immersion Sessions, in which they performed live from one of the world's finest recording studios, Studios301.
After a brief pandemic-induced hiatus, the four-piece are returning with a full studio release of their heartbreaking ballad, 'Running To'. The song is a meditation on unhealthy relationships – especially ones in which you find yourself chasing the thing you should be avoiding at all costs.
"All 200 of us punters were sold on the band’s musicianship and songwriting. As the songs keep coming, this band will keep finding new and unexpected ways to channel that energy into something special" - Hayden Fritzlaff, The RiotACT

i love steph's description use of cinematic. it has patience and space and definitely gives you that feeling that it's soundtracking something a little bit special.
