Astrid & The Asteroids exploded onto the scene after winning the 2012 Billy Thorpe Scholarship at the Queensland Music Awards. Hand-picked by QMusic and the family of Billy Thorpe as the most promising new talent in QLD for the year, the band picked up the award along with the $10,000 prize money. 2013 has seen them put the scholarship to good use, recording a string of tracks that have seen them work with the music industry's best, such as Magoo, Jeff Lovejoy, Sugarrush Music, and Andrew Stone (Chugg Entertainment). Their first single of the year, West End, received rave reviews from Noel Mengel (Courier Mail), Independent Australia, the [AU]Review, Scene Magazine, and online blogs such as It's My Kind Of Scene, and the OrangePress.
