Bio

'Holding Out' is the debut release from Melbourne-based alternative rock band Atticus Street, whose enthusiastic and uplifting live performances have caught the eyes and ears of many across Melbourne in 2017, their first year as a band.

Anchored by powerful grooves and a driving urgency, the song details the conflict and anguished confusion arising from moving on before your heart is ready.

Atticus Street began in early 2017, after university friends Ross Davidson (bass) and Seb Szabo (vocals) discovered a unique songwriting chemistry. After reconnecting with Szabo's primary school friend Lucas Snapp (drums) through a common passion for big-sounding rock, the trio began writing and performing original songs immediately.

Inspired by the likes of U2, Coldplay, Kings of Leon and Radiohead, the band's resume includes successful headline shows at the Toff In Town and Bar Open among many shows across Melbourne in 2017. A raw combination of Szabo's smooth vocals and passionate lyrics, Davidson's outside-the-box bass playing and Snapp's hard-hitting drumming has culminated in a debut single that translates all the energy of a live show along with the ambition of a band with its eyes set firmly on the stars.

'Holding Out' was recorded by way of a prize won in Freeza's Battle of the Bands competition. Many months in the making, the song was produced by Damien Young at Pony Studios and mastered by Joseph Carra, whose previous work includes Courtney Barnett, San Cisco and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Holding Out will be launched with a show at the Workers Club Fitzroy on Dec 12.

We hope you all enjoy it! x
