Bio

Autosuggest is an electronic rock band formed in Sydney, Australia from post-punk adorations and contemporary influences. What was initially a solo endeavour from songwriter Alec Mallia has evolved into a three piece, now including bassist Jack McFarlane and guitarist Jordan Sexty. Together, they have cemented their place as a vital point of difference in Sydney’s greater music landscape.

First arriving in 2017 with an EP, Murmur, and later releasing their debut album in 2019, Tame Harm, these releases soundtrack not only the band’s evolution from a solo outfit to a trio, but their sonic development as well. Now, in 2020, they are set to reestablish themselves once again with their second album, Introhedonism.

Fusing together harsh, abrasive electronic sounds with the steely swagger of rock, the pure form of pop and the vibrancy of indie electronica, Autosuggest continue to defy traditions and constraints to make something wholly authentic, bold and daring with every release. Inspired by everything from INXS to SOPHIE, BV to Sevdaliza, Autosuggest has become a mainstay in the underground Sydney music scene thanks to their fearless self-expression through musical experimentalism.

I felt pulled under, almost into a trancelike state while listening to this. The pulsation of the bass notes were everything for me in this tune.

There’s something irresistible bout this new one from Autosuggest and I think it’s about the interplay between vocals and guitars.
