Born in Tokyo, bred in Delhi, based in Melbourne. Singer-Songwriter-Producer Avijit ‘Avi’ Misra melds east and west, old and new into his own brand of independent music. Starting out as a solo acoustic act in India’s underground music scene more than a decade ago, Misra soon assembled a motley crew of musos that headlined as Avi And The Uprising. His debut album ‘Eyes On The Radio’ was released in 2014 to critical acclaim and the band hit the road for a 3 city tour partnered with MTV Indies and Blue Frog. The self-made songman has since made his mark on the Australian music scene with significant nationwide community radio airplay and strong shows up and down the East Coast from The Espy to The Brisbane Powerhouse. Avi has just released a retrospective album ‘New Delhi Blues. Live Sessions. 2008-2011’ recorded live with just acoustic guitar and voice and is all set to launch an electronic album 'Usha' in February. In an increasingly polarised world, Misra's work refuses to be stereotyped.
