Drenched in Brisbane pride, power pop-rock outfit Babaganouj have grown a legion of fans since their 2011 inception. While keeping with their distinctly Australian style, The Nouj’s sound is reminiscent of Teenage Fanclub, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Yuck, taking inspiration from Creation Records and Flying Nun classics.
“Would You Like Me?” is the lead single from Babaganouj’s forthcoming Vinyl compilation of three EPs released across 2016 and 2017. This track was originally released in April 2016 on “Pillar of Light”.
In 2016, “Pillar of Light” caught the attention of Japanese label 2670 Records and was released in record stores all over Japan earning top sellers in Tower Records, Shinjuku.
By undertaking three releases in twelve months the band have expanded the scope of their craft, showcasing each members vocal and songwriting talents. This has allowed the band to focus their power-pop racket while exploring new styles and themes. In everything ‘Nouj produces are infectious lyrics, intense riffs and unreal magnetism.
Harriette (bass and vocals) wrote Would You Like Me a few years ago. It's about feeling like she was obsessing over friendships with people she really looked up to and admired who didn't actually turn out to be that great
Babaganouj plan to release their triptych vinyl compilation in October this year shortly after a national tour of Japan with an Australian release party in Brisbane in early November.
