Since forming five years ago in high school, Melbourne band Barcelos have spent their late teen-hood and early twenties grinding their way through Melbourne. After years of deliberation, discovery and development, the five close mates have landed with a comprehensive debut; ‘Blairgowrie’. The song captures their unique brand of ambient-indie rock and displays their extensive palette for wild sounds and inspiration. The track has a gritty DIY underpinning that suits them well among the dark and grimy corners that Melbourne has to offer. Barcelos embodies the energy and force of a hard rock band but embrace a softer side accompanied by a truthfully sincere lead vocalist, James Medley. A unique individual and an inspired poet, his lyrics glide through the track painting an abstract picture, which suit the bands slightly skewed, and experimental melodies.
