Bio

Over the years, Beckon has built a solid reputation as one of Perth’s premier freestyle performers. He learnt to control a crowd through performing with a broad range of electronic acts throughout 2007 – 2012. In 2013, he launched his solo hip hop career matching his distinctively smooth style with soul and jazz inspired beats. His first single ‘Someone Like You’ received a solid response and reached the third spot on the JJJ unearthed hip hop charts. His collaboration with drum and bass producer Spectrem on the single ‘Catch Me If You Can’ received strong UK radio airplay, featuring on BBC Radio 1 extra and on KissFM in a guest mix by Rusko. In 2014, amongst other performances, Beckon was chosen to be a feature artist for the Juice hip hop event. This saw him performing his original works with the Premiss seven piece live band and soul singer Farren Wood. His debut release, ‘The Mindstate EP’ was launched in July to a sold out crowd. The 5 track cd features all original production by Equalibrum and Empty in addition to others. If you like smooth and non-aggressive hip hop, Beckon is an artist to keep an ear out for.
