Bio

Odds, the debut single from Sydney based duo Beryl brings intimate songwriting together with vast indie-folk instrumentation with a sense of melancholic honesty. Comprising Gabriela King and Alex Jasprizza, Beryl have been making their own formidable reputations as independent artists in various Sydney bands since 2014. They began collaborating in 2019 on their debut track after discovering their mutual love of contemporary songwriting. Produced by Blain Cunneen (Julia Jacklin, Elizabeth Fader) and featuring Cunneen on guitar, bassist Josh Spolc (CLEWS, Phantastic Ferniture, Elizabeth Fader) and drummer Holly Conner (BoysnLove), with mastering by Philip Shaw Bova (Andy Shauf, Marlon Williams). Odds presents King’s stunning vocals over a myriad of instrumental textures to create a fresh, highly personal and introspective approach to the genre. With the release of several more songs later in the year, Beryl is an act worth keeping an eye on.

Fragile and yet so intense, Beryl makes your heart ache. This kind of track just takes your breath away.

the type of song that stirs up a tear in your eye and a weight in your chest. joining the many others who've described you two as "special". they're exactly right.

Beryl, you two are pretty special. While this one's so delicate that it mightn't disturb the richter scale, it's got an emotional resonance that impacts powerfully.
