Bio

Leave the bitter cold at the door, and let Perth's Big Old Bears keep the wolves at bay with their home-spun songs of life and love. Original members David Craft and Nathalie Pavlovic have helmed the band since its incarnation, boldly steering through the tides of change since the well-received 2010 release of the band's debut EP, 'Tales Of You'. Having cut their teeth on the road supporting both national and international acts, and undergone changes in line-up and musical direction, the Bears, now a six-piece collective of talented local musicians, have steadily diversified their sound, culminating in their eponymous sophomore release, launched in the winter of 2012. Although marking a new season in the band's blossoming maturity, the five track EP retains all the elements known and loved in a Big Old Bears release. Surging melodies and jangling keys meet delicate finger-picking and three-piece harmonies, marrying perfectly Craft's oaken strains with Pavlovic's honey-soaked support. With heavier guitar and deft bass lines, courtesy of Edward Smith and Caitlin Maloney, combining with John Brown's sonorous drums, and Pippa Lester's buoyant injections of violin, the Big Old Bears have truly redefined themselves without losing their inherent brand of infectious charm.
