Bio

Big Orange are an alternative rock band from Perth, Western Australia, delivering bittersweet songs with passion, commitment and hooks that'll ear-worm into your subconscious and bury deep within your soul. The brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Davis, the project subsequently evolved into a 4-piece band, with Davis’ vocals, piano and guitar work complemented by life-long friends Tom Garvey on bass, Emma Adams on synths and percussion, and Jamie Gallacher on drums.

With roots in the sleepy town of Harvey in the Western Australia’s South West - Daniel, Emma and Tom relocated to a share house in Perth City in 2015 and formed Big Orange in their living room - the name Big Orange a little nod to the monument in their hometown. Since Inception Big Orange have built a loyal following. Received extensive national airplay, including rotational spots on FBI Radio and Double J. Regular features in RTRFM’s Sound Selection - landing among the station’s Top 50 Most Played Tracks of 2018. Big Orange releases have also been added to Spotifys ‘Chords & Cardigans’ Playlist and most recently Bandcamps ‘New and Notable’ List.

The recent addition of Jamie Gallacher (New Talk, Pat Chow) on drums solidifies the Big Orange line-up, with previous drummer and brother Chris Davis following his heart back to the green pastures of the South West (albeit treating audiences to the sporadic live appearance on guitar backing vocals). The Big Orange polished live show has found them playing main support slots for some legendary acts best including Jebediah, Ash, The Jam and Big Country, aswell as Sydney's Jack Ladder.

“Big Orange command attention in the purest possible way - with snappy hooks and sharply- written tunes. The band play with a no-frills commitment and confidence that serves to intensify the emotional impact of their material.” ~ Sam Farringdon, Junction Records.

Big Orange spent the beginning of 2020 toiling away at Blackbird Sound Studio with celebrated engineer Dave Parkin, putting the finishing touches on their Debut LP which will be announced before closing the door on 2020.

i'm with dave on the driving metaphor because i'm feeling the wind in my (non-existent) hair as this one gets me escaping the city and out on the open road. that last minute and a half has a nice war on drugs filter on it and i'm definitely a fan of that!

This one starts in 4th gear and Big Orange don't take their foot off the accelerator for the following three minutes of hooky rock.
