Bio

There's plenty to like about this chunky, impassioned rock” Dave Ruby (Triple j)

"ooofft! this one hits you right where it hurts and then makes you come back for more. I'm a big fan of this" Nick Findlay (Triple j)

If you’ve ever been stuck awake, lying in bed after a night out on the town and you hear that distinct high pitched ringing drone in your ears; chances are you’ve just discovered what it’s like to be a fly on the wall in the confined practice space of Black Stone from the Sun.
Chaotic beats, dirty tones and a dominant melody is the fundamental formula responsible for Black Stone from the Sun’s raucous, high-energy rock.

With the year well and truly underway, the Perth garage/grunge duo is set to release their long-awaited and highly anticipated debut album ‘Dreamalysis’. The album was recorded by The Love Junkies front man Mitch McDonald at Perth’s legendary Blackbird Studios and mastered by Forensic Audio’s Simon Struthers over the course of several scattered weekends.

‘Dreamalysis’ demonstrates the band’s evolution since their inception in 2012, showcasing an apex of creative sound and willingness to venture outside the box of familiarity. The songwriting has been approached with a more refined method than the pair’s previous releases, delving into a darker territory lyrically whilst still retaining the heavy sound they have become known for. The latest single ‘Smile In A Daze’ opens with a taste of heaviness surpassing that of previous single releases, before leading into a harmonious and beat driven chorus resting upon a bed of ambient, feel-good organ. The single follows on from the duo’s last release, ‘Paralyzed In Dreams’, which premiered on triple j and saw Black Stone from the Sun release their first DIY music video.

2015 yielded the release of their sophomore EP ‘Death Threats and Cigarettes’ and first national tour, picking up airplay nationwide on FBi Radio, RTRfm, 4ZZZ and triple j.
Since then, BSFTS have toured across Australia again in support of the album’s first single ‘Vice versa’ and played the inaugural ‘A Dog Day Afternoon’ festival in Perth’s northern suburbs, sharing the stage with Abbe May, The Love Junkies, New Talk (FKA Rag N’ Bone), and many others. The last run of shows the duo performed was as the main support for Birds of Tokyo’s WA leg of their Australian regional tour and again for a one-off show in Geraldton WA.

Black Stone from the Sun are set to release ‘Dreamalysis’ on the 27th of April and will be embarking on a string of shows Australia-wide in early May 2018.

CRUNCH. Don't mind me, that's just the sound of my body aching from throwing myself around to this jam.

What a hooky hooky riff! It's awesome to think that it's just the two of you making this huge sound.
