Artist:THE BLOCKADES

The Blockades were a Brisbane-based Alternative Punk outfit consisting of Caleb Freeman, Jade Roles and Jacob Kirstenfeldt. The band showed great maturity, writing songs exploring themes including relationships, politics, sensationalism in the news and mental health, despite them being high school students. Possessing 2 strong vocalists of both gender, the trio created a huge, dark and versatile 90s alt rock-tinged sound that delved into experimental noise rock, riot-grrrl punk, and even indie-pop. Their unique music was the result of the Jade Roles and Caleb Freeman's collaborative writing efforts, with them both paying homage to their musical idols and heroes. When the band was active (2017-2020), they gigged extensively all throughout Brisbane, gaining a decent-sized underground following of both underage and older fans, plus a notorious reputation of playing wild, high energy shows with intense moshing.
