Carving out a name for themselves in Sydney’s beer-soaked, lipstick-smeared rock n’ roll scene are Bonney Read, a powerhouse (almost) all-girl quartet hailing from the Inner West. Armed with a brand new EP, recorded by legendary producer Mark Opitz, the band are ready to bring their infectiously danceable brand of punk-tinged rock to the masses. The unholy union of Vocalist Jess Cooper and Guitarist Kat Ayala came to be when they simultaneously stumbled out of some long-forgotten dive bar having just seen each others’ former bands perform, unanimously coming to the conclusion that the world simply wasn’t badass enough for the two of them. Faced with the possibility of a fight to the death, they instead decided that the world would just have to step up its game, and thus, Bonney Read was born.
