The BordererS started out as a recording project until Jim just happened to stop in Adelaide as part of his round the world trip. Alex, the female lead singer was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and came to Australia in 1987. Her influences are Joni Mitchell & Annie Lennox. Jim Paterson was born in Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in Australia on Xmas Eve 1993. His influences are AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Status Quo & Talking Heads.
