To say the past year has been a whirlwind for Boy & Bear would not only be a cliché, but also an understatement.  Since the band’s dulcet tones first hypnotised listeners across triple j's radio waves in September 2009 Boy & Bear have found themselves in the spotlight.  Their single ‘Mexican Mavis’ had the industry whispering and music fans clambering.  However, it wasn’t until the single earned the quintet the triple j Unearthed position on Sydney's famed Homebake festival in Dec 09, that just how much of a gem this band was became apparent.   Rumours of their live show quickly spread and Boy & Bear soon found themselves touring with the royalty of folk rock, Angus & Julia Stone, Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling throughout Australia.  Boy & Bear impressed, so much so that Laura Marling invited the band to tour with her through the UK. In fact, two members of Boy & Bear, Jake Tarasenko and Tim Hart, also did a stint doubling up as members of Laura’s touring band.   Their live show takes the band to another plane, evidenced by their critically-praised, sold-out national "Blood To Gold Tour" across September and October 2010. The songs presented on debut EP “With Emperor Antarctica” pack a bigger punch when taken to the live forum.  The honesty in each member’s voice is heightened, the emotion makes chests swell and the story in each song resonates somewhere between the heart and stomach.    Boy & Bear is happy. Boy & Bear is Tambourine. Boy & Bear is good for you.

Triple J

Such a powerful ...

Such a powerful track, so many layers and such attention to detail production wise and melodically. We've had our ears on Dave Hosking for a while, great to hear his amazing talents mobilised into this project.
