There’s been a buzz building about this bloke as a genuine, unaffected singer-songwriter. He put on a great showcase at BIGSOUND in Brisbane late last year and he’s just released his debut album. Having recently been nominated as a finalist in the 2013 APRA / TSA new songwriter award, Brad was also a finalist in the 2012 MusicOz and Queensland Music Awards for his songwriting. 2012 also saw Brad tour with Busby Marou, play The Gympie Muster and support both Pete Murray and Mark Seymour. 'Conversations and Complications', Brad's second single was recently the most ordered track for airplay filling the number 1 spot on the AirIt Now and Great Southern Charts for three consecutive weeks. 2013 is already shaping up to be another great year. Shortlisted for the upcoming APRA Professional Development Award, Brad has also just received an invitation to showcase at NXNE in Toronto in June. His songs are inspired by his life, the people in it and the places he’s been. His lyrics exude loss, redemption, love, hope, sadness and defiance. His heartache is all too evident. Influenced by the likes of Cat Stevens, Ryan Adams and Ray Lamontage, Brad’s music is real and it inspires. Brad was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, restricting his ability to breathe and subsequently leaving him with a defective voice box. Repairing his damaged vocal chords meant years of speech therapy as a child, a demanding task that would yield one very unexpected outcome…..a remarkable voice. For over a decade Brad kept his voice and his tunes all to himself. That was until an intelligent friend rescued him from that sweltering-hot Queensland coal mine by suggesting he send some demos to producer/engineer Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray/Busby Marou). Enlisting the help of multi-instrumentalist Ben McCarthy (Kate Miller-Heidke/Pete Murray) as co-producer, Brad, Anthony and Ben have made a debut album that can comfortably go down as one of the best.
