Bio

“There’s a liquid quality to Sheehan’s sultry tones, with lyrics delivered in a languid fashion with occasional delicious growls. She knows just where to place emphasis to generate the most passion.” Rory McCartney: Bmag, 2016

Queensland singer/songwriter Brealyn Sheehan has been cultivating her unique style of music in her former home city of Cairns over the last few years, and released her debut EP “Temptation’s Door” with a sold out hometown gig in April 2016.

Her first single “Forbidden Fruit” spend 5 weeks on the AMRAP Australian Regional Chart, peaking at number 5 following it’s February 2016 release, and then went on to receive a Highly Commended from judges of the 2017 Queensland Music Awards in the Jazz category.

Her 6 track “Temptation’s Door” combines a heady mix of genres, from indie-folk, to jazz, blues and haunting ballads all bound by lashings of Brealyn’s lush vocals. Temptation’s Door explores the universal themes of love, desire and longing.

“The voice will transfix you. The melody will haunt you. And the lyrics will take you into forbidden territory, again and again”. Roz Pulley: Cairns Eye, 2016

Recorded in Cairns at Big Sister Studio by producer Mark Myers (Middle East, Emma Louise, Leanne Tennant) the CD was then mastered by Grammy Award winning engineer William Bowden (Gotye, Tim Finn) of King Willy Sound.

When performing live the songstress captivates her audiences with a familiar and sassy stage presence. Her sometimes sparse melodies and instrumentation invite the listener to engage with her intimate storytelling and emotionally laden lyrics.

Brealyn’s music has been heard on ABC Radio National’s “The Inside Sleeve” with Paul Gough, Glitter And Doom on PBS, and on 4ZZZ as well as regional station’s around Australia. She’s performed at a string of North Queensland’s best venues and festivals, and opened for acts such as Melbourne Ska Orchestra and Leanne Tennant.

Having just relocated to Brisbane, Brealyn’s excited about sharing her music with new audiences. She’ll perform at Sonny’s House of Blues in April 2017, supporting the Brisbane leg of Colin Lillie’s national Tour.
