Bio

Burnside Mums are an Adelaide band with a unique take on contemporary Australian punk rock. With influences and members from far and wide, the mums sound has steadily grown over time to hit a chaotic crescendo of visceral lyrics and rolling riffs. Songs of hardship and mental anguish colour their works, all with a distinctive confession from front man Jason Katsaras. Expect their live shows to be sweaty, loud and relentless as the five-piece draw in the crowd to the stage and the contagious energy of their songs.

The name itself of 'Burnside Mums' stems from the inhabitants of the affluent suburb of Burnside in Adelaide's East, where a couple of band members previously endured working. In 2017, Burnside Mums put out their first studio release in the double single 'Drive Out of Town / The World Around Us'.

These two songs were received well and earned the band a slot on the Triple J Unearthed Spotlight. Burnside Mums next single ‘Grassfires’ will be released on August 10th. Recently the group supported Adelaide heavyweights Grenadiers and played a string of residency shows at the Grace Emily before winning the Music SA ‘Beer Band Competition’ and opening the main stage at the Beer and BBQ Festival. With all this under their belt, and a menu of original material at hand, Burnside Mums plan on putting in the hard yards.

Can't remember where it was but I saw a photo of some legend's map of SA tattoo with a few bands inked on it too like Bad//Dreems and maybe Horror My Friend. They better save some space for this band too.

I love this edgy, rough on the edge garage rock you've given us. Heaps of wholesome energy too.
