The lyrics for Stay Down were inspired by her turbulent experience navigating a complex + undesirable time of which she broke through… eventually. It was a time that challenged her to her core so much that she began to question her purpose as a creative. The daunting symptoms of imposter syndrome had begun to surface. With some free time + a new instrumental from co-producer Kuya James, Caiti processed her thoughts by writing + recording “Stay Down” in 4 hours. The infectious beat, hinting 90s pop boom-bap nostalgia, is upgraded with samples + fat 808s, infusing a K-pop arrangement + bent guitar licks for added ear candy. The catch cry “Ooo! Don’t catch me looking in the mirror again, Ooo! She gonna tell you all of them lies again” is anthemic + upbeat! Stay Down is putting imposter syndrome + doubt where it belongs. Down. On the ground.
