Uncompromisingly groovy and ever so funky, Catchpole, exploded onto the Australian music scene with their energetic performance, catchy hooks and funky grooves. Based on the Gold Coast, the band of five passionate individuals have been captivating live audiences wherever they play. Following the release of their debut single, “Watermelon” in March 2018 and then “Vanessa” in October, they’ve seen a huge rise in local and worldwide online popularity. The 5 piece rock outfit defies the limits of any single genre, drawing influence from a boiling pot of styles including reggae, blues, pop, funk, folk and alternative, with their roots stemming from the rock music they were raised on.
With frontman, Jonathon Aiello, compared to the likes of a young Michael Hutchence or Jim Morison, the bands stage presence will have the audience dancing as much as they do. The searing solos and powerful riffs brought to the stage by guitarist Liam Brett characterise Catchpole’s atmospheric yet gritty rock sound. The funky and melodic basslines of Archer together with Jenna Goy’s pounding drumming style drive the music to its limits. Finally, harmonic textures are provided by the newest edition, Oscar Vobr to round off the band’s unique sonic experience.
With influence coming from legendary bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, INXS, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Powderfinger, Ocean Alley, and Matt Corby, Catchpole can’t wait to share their music with the world.
