Bio

Cathy grew up in Tassie, before crossing the ditch to see what all the fuss was about. She has been living in Canberra and getting her mits into every band she can for several years, including Helena Pop, Azim Zain and his Lovely Bones and formerly, The Lowlands. Although she has only recently been performing as Cathy, in a former guise and as singer-songwriter for The Lowlands, she has supported the likes of Tim Rogers, Beth Orton (UK), Katy Steele (Little Birdy) and Bob Evans, as well as coming home with the National Live Music Awards’ ACT Live Voice of the Year for 2017 and 2018.

Since forming her new band and project late last year, she has supported the likes of Maddy Jane and Fraser A. Gorman, and recorded music for her new project.

Cathy's debut release, 'Watertight', was recorded at Infidel Studios in Queanbeyan, NSW, by Louis Montgomery (SAFIA, Slow Turismo). In addition to members of her current live band (Tim Douglass, Jono Warren and Joel Davy) it also features backing vocals from Hayley Manwaring (Moaning Lisa) and Piano by Dan Hirst (Helena Pop).
Mastered by Steve Smart.

What a sublime mood you've spun here, Cathy. It's got poise for days and a knowing charm through the lyrics. I'm thinking Carla Geneve meets Didirri but also just YOU.

There is something a little special and sparkling about Cathy Diver, this is a mesmerising song that I could listen to for days on end. She has that wonderer vibe that Laura Marling and Courtney Barnett have about them, she makes the still and mundane magical and mystical.
