Celeste Evelyn is an artist/singer-songwriter born from the wild and fertile coastal soil of Tasmania, honing an original sound that borrows from roots, soul, folk and alt-rock, yet strays into realms of a genre undefinable. An earth-spun songstress with provoking lyrics, emotive melodies, and a focus on the depth and colour available to our human experience that can be found through rhythm and melody.
Inspired by 60s and 70s folk-rock as a bedrock in supporting her love for the genius of songwriting and production gone by, while the primitive force of her own craft expands into maverick creations and modern-day musings.
Either as a solo performer, accentuating the nuances and control of her voice with ethereal electric guitar, or with her band of 4, filling out the songs with ambient keys, balanced drums, compelling bass lines and sparkling harmonies. She’s supported acts such as Mojo Juju, Gordi, Stonefield, and Chase City.
After enough dreaming about it, she released her debut 7 track EP, ‘Sun Borne’ in 2019. Recorded at Reel to Reel Studios, the body of work touches on themes of rites of passage, through a coming of age and letting go in order to gain and grow.
