Bio

Checkered Fist are an Australian trio who formed in 2007. Julian Shaw is the lead guitarist / singer, Jake Meredith plays Drums and Damon Shaw is the Upright ‘Double Bass’ player / backing vocals. Their genre is "Psychobilly" however, theirs is a fresh, unique and awesome fusion of many musical styles including rockabilly, blues, alternate rock and Punk. This young trio have been causing quite a positive reaction wherever they have played, with their ability and professionalism. This trio's youthful exuberance never goes un-noticed during their energetic and often interactive stage performances. They have already played numerous gigs in pubs, clubs, auditoriums and even outdoor festivals. In their short but rapidly developing career so far, the boys have already been accredited with high acclaim from peers and supporters alike. Their live shows to date have expanded across several states in Australia and Checkered Fist has even received 'air-time' on a number of radio stations in Australia and USA. Checkered Fist recorded an EP of original tunes in 2007 and their new EP Psychobilly Unleashed will be released nationally through Foghorn Records and MGM Distribution on 6 April 2009. You will be able to purchase the EP from JB HI FI or online through ITunes from 6 April 2009 If you are looking for something new and fresh then Checkered Fist is definitely worth a look. They will be touring Melbourne in April 2009 and have upcoming gigs in Queensland, Canberra, Sydney and the Central Coast.
