Bio

To find oneself - to remove yourself from your current situation, head off in a new direction, and see if you can discover who you really are, what you want out of life and who you want to become. Having travelled to countries including the USA, Mexico, Laos and Vietnam as well as living in the remote community of Cooktown, North Queensland, Chris Cavill has been blessed with a dose of inspiration that has contributed to a whole new song list. Since the success of his debut album ‘Distance’ in 2009, his new material explores the challenges of life’s misfortunes and heartaches with an optimistic theme of hope and possibility. Returning to his beloved blues and roots scene, the newly crafted material creatively unites his renowned up-beat repertoire with an emotive heartfelt and soulful sound. Backed up by his dexterous line-up of musicians and band-mates, The Long Weekend, Chris’ new material oozes passion in its highest regard. With songwriting influences reflecting the likes of Neil Young, Ben Harper, David Gray and Eddie Vedder, complimented by a sound that is their own, Chris Cavill & The Long Weekend are in the making of something remarkably special, with a new record that delivers a new chapter of meaning and significance. Hailing from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Chris’ music career began back in 2006. Since then he has released three EPs, and in July 2009, Chris Cavill & The Long Weekend launched their debut album ‘Distance’ at one of Melbourne’s most iconic music venues - The Corner Hotel. ‘Distance’ reached profitable sales and appeared on the shelves of JB Hi-Fi stores Australia wide and online internationally via iTunes, through a distribution deal with MGM. Furthermore, Chris’ music has premiered on Foxtel’s promotional advertisements and received airplay from Triple J, ABC Radio, RRR, PBS, Bay FM and other various community radio stations across the nation. Chris Cavill & The Long Weekend are proud to present the first offering from their upcoming record, with the release of the single ‘Feelin’ The Love’, a song that represents the value of genuine mateship and that when faced with adversity you can always count on those closest to you. The single also offers a captivating live performance of one of Chris’ solo acoustic songs, ‘San Diego’. This B-Side is a reflection of Chris’ journey of escaping an untimely series of events to a world full of rage, colour and stimulation. Feelin’ The Love and the official film clip is available on iTunes and YouTube.
