Bio

After being reared and raised on the Capricorn Coast Chris Mallory travelled the world for six years developing his contemporary style of folk music. During his studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Mallory gained experience in studio production and live performance helping to define his lucid and engaging sound. Mallory’s debut EP “For Gregory” (released Dec, 2010), honouring the memory of his late brother, is an example of his juxtaposition of rhythmic elements sustaining haunting vocal melodies. During his musical journey, Mallory has shared the stage with Clare Bowditch, Jimmy Barnes and Mr. Percival. To celebrate the release of his latest EP “Moth to the Flame”, Mallory is currently conducting a national tour performing at music festivals and selected venues. Mallory is pulling on heart-strings all over the country with the help of Kara Lonergan on guitar, glockenspiel, banjo-mandolin, melody horn and backing vocals. Some past festivals the duo has performed at include The Village Festival 2010, Neurum Creek Festival 2010, Woodford Folk Festival Duck and Shovel Stage 2010, Kirra Surfstock Festival 2010, Saltwater Festival 2010. “There is an intense vibe to Chris Mallory’s performances that reaches beyond the stage and settles into your heart. His music will stay with you long after the final chord has been played.” Briony Petch ABC Coast FM “Chris Mallory engages crowds around the state”. Time Off Magazine “The soulful vibes of Chris Mallory are sure to get you into the festival season swing.” BEAT Magazine
