With an emphasis on strong, melancholic melodies and artful musicianship, Chynoweth provide a unique brand of versatile alternative rock that packs a real punch, yet remains true to the craft of quality songwriting.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, the trio made their first collective offering in 2015 with the release of their single ‘Hope You Know’. The following year saw a follow-up single in ‘Slow’, itself foreshadow the release of the band’s first major offering, the decidedly acoustic and indulgent ’Songs of Misery and Romance’ EP. In 2017 the band marked their first overseas trip to Germany with the release of five live studio recordings, showcasing their heavy rock sensibilities. The band’s diverse catalogue attests to their sonic versatility.
This versatility, however, is most apparent in the band’s electrifying live performances. Callum’s soaring vocals and captivating stage presence, combined with the rhythmic interplay and high energy of Tom (drums) and Brock (bass), leave audiences with quickened pulses and heads full of memorable melodies. With a string of standout shows under their belts — including an appearance at Taubertal Festival 2017 in Germany — and new material in the pipeline, Chynoweth are swiftly cementing themselves as a prominent force on the Sydney music scene.
